The author tries his best not to wound the hearts and not to insult the scorched souls of those women who have lost their husbands in the war.
Careful treatment of the soil and the feeling of preciousness to the native land are the cardinal motives of such well-known poems of T. Yusupov as'"Coming back to the village", "To my son", "Oak". In his book "Thoughts on the rock" (1988) the author depicts very vividly the idea of integrity of the poet's fortune with the fortune of the Earth.
In his poems "Running barefoot", "Suddenly a strike", "My river", "Blue poplar" some trivial facts turn into artistic symbols creating a vivid and integral landscape of human life. Striving for epic scale, deep generalizations are characteristics for the small poems of the author. Their keen and witty ends very often are perceived as aphorisms.
Such epics of T. Yusupov as "Road of the ancestors", "Gul'bazir", "Coming back in the sun-rise" are characterized by artistic breadth and epic scale. "Road of the ancestors" tells about the years of voluntary joining of Bashkortostan with the Russian state. Up to that time in the Bashkir poetry there haven't been more or less significant works about this epoch. In his epic T. Yusupov touches upon the historical periods which have been never depicted in the Bashkir poetry before. In this work T. Yusupov develops some folklore traditions, synthesizing them in his own peculiar way. Here the author widely adopts the poetic manner of "kubairs" (ancient genre of Bashkir folk poetry).
In his poem "Melodies of spring" T. Yusupov on the one hand excitedly calls everyone to remember faithfully those who are gone, and on the other hand discusses the aspects of moral purity, civil responsibility of the youth brought up without fathers and who are carrying the burden of responsibility for the future of the country. The poem "Coming back to the dawns" which has the form of a monologue is characterized by emotional elation and dramatic character. The monologue develops from the past to the present day ("Beginning of the century", "Invasion", "Between two dawns", "Clinking of medals", etc.). It is the active attitude of the poet to the world which stimulates epic breadth of the thoughts and feelings of the reader.
Delicate lyricism of T. Yusupov's poetry deserves special attention. His works as a rule are
based not on the external development of the plot, but on the flow of spiritual life and internal struggle of feelings. In most of his poems and epics T. Yusupov manages to find such words which express divine beauty of nature and emotional experiences.
T. Yusupov's poems and epics are filled with the spirit of kubairs. Folk character of his poetry is achieved by means of linguistic and stylistic methods, folklore pictorial means, aphoristic expressions which serve as proverbs and sayings, assessments of events, facts of life and nature form the point of view of human beings. All these methods allow the author to reach internal integrity of his works.
Tight connection of historic past with complexity of the present day which are common for T. Yusupov's works as well as artistic generalization of trivial events, deep belief in human greatness, commitment for the future of mankind, despondency for not being able to get rid of trifles and fuss of life, admiration of perfection of nature - all these motives are very bright, vivid and deep.
T. Yusupov's lyric poetry is characterized by delicate sensuality, tight connection of emotionality with civil pathos. Inspiration of T. Yusupov's lyric poetry in which the author walks "through centuries as through starts" gaves Bashkir poetry new tints. With time the author's reflections acquired rapidity and wide dimensions, which are peculiar to the present day. In his works T. Yusupov rises the problem of "hopeless villages" as well as the issue of the future of the native language, national spirit, fortune of the people.
In 1998 T. Yusupov received Salavat Yulayev national award of the Republic of Bashkortostan for his book "The berries are ripe" (Ufa, 1998).
